Suzanne Reed Fine
Artist’s Statement
For me there is nothing more exciting than to immerse myself in the process of creating and capturing an idea
with a few simple marks. My background in graphic design affords me the freedom to let the painting naturally
evolve. Striving for simplicity is something that I continually work towards by editing you truly capture the
essence of your subject.
The natural crisp light and vibrant colors of the Southwest have always been an inspiration in my paintings.
Though I work with all forms of water media, acrylics have become my favorite, as they portray these same two
characteristics. I enjoy the endless possibilities of how the colors interact and the effects and textures they create.
I look for areas in the painting to accentuate by pushing and pulling the values exposing layers to create depth
is an exciting process for me.
Inspiration comes to me from many places, whether seen, dreamt, read or heard. Each piece that I create has its
own story transforming itself from a beginning spark in my imagination to the conclusion on the canvas.
